1st Grade

Last week, Emma started first grade. I can't believe the summer went by so fast! I did not do many of the things I wanted to with her this summer. What's done is done, though. At least it's still hot, so there is a chance for "summer activities," even if school is back in session.

So far, Emma seems to like her new teacher. She seems very nice. They are already working on songs for their Thanksgiving program in music class. She is also continuously improving in reading. It is awesome to see her so excited and proud when she reads books that she didn't think she could. I have had several people recently tell me that she speaks like a "grown-up." I don't usually think about it, but her vocabulary is pretty advanced. I guess it's just that we use normal, "grown-up" words at home, rather than "dumbing down" our conversations with her.

Not much else is happening, other than getting back into the routine of school...
We have been watching the Summer Olympics. They are definitely my favorite.

I will post a picture of Emma on her first day of 1st grade later. I still haven't uploaded the pictures yet.
