summertime fun (and heat)

So after about 2 weeks (maybe slightly less... I don't know, it sure felt like longer! lol), we finally got our air conditioner fixed. We called the landlady and she got someone out to look at it. He came the next morning. It was the capacitor. This made me think of the infamous "flux capacitor" from Back to the Future. He also recharged/refilled (whatever they do) the freon. All I know is that I am SO glad that it's fixed. Even better, is that the following week, we had a record heat wave. We had temps in the 106-108 range several days in a row. Wowza! I can't even imagine how miserable we would have been if our AC had still been broken.

In other news, Matt came to visit us (my brother, for those who don't know).
Speaking of family, we went to my nephew's 8th birthday party yesterday. That is always a nice time. Emma just loves playing with her cousins. They live about 2 hours away (though the party was closer to 1 1/2 hours away). They ate, opened presents, games (pinata, pin the tail on the wall/random family member/donkey), and had a cool Mario cake (decorated by my sister-in-law, Jessica) and ice cream. Then the kids ran around like crazy people, played with toys, and had a general good time.
