Emma is home sick today. She was going to have to leave school a little early anyway because she has a dentist appointment at 3:00. She is going to have two teeth extracted. It's the same type of situation that she had before, with the crowding. She went to the orthodontist about a month ago for a follow-up/check up (she is being monitored, bc she is definitely going to need braces within a couple of years). We are trying to minimize the damage from the severe crowding that she has. The Ortho. was quite pleased with how the lower teeth have come in, after the 5 teeth were taken out, upon his recommendation. So now she's having two on the top removed, to make room for the two adult teeth that are coming in crooked/sideways. The hope is that with more room available, they will start to grow in more straight (these are not the middle two teeth, but the two to the side. And the incisors/canine teeth are the ones being removed, btw).
Emma is mostly excited about the appt. because she will get to pick prizes from the "treasure chest," and of course, bc the Tooth Fairy will be coming tonight. Last time she had her teeth pulled, she got a nice "bonus" from the Tooth Fairy (T.F. felt so bad and all... esp. since it isn't her fault she has genetically crowded teeth! lol).
