This week and the next are Fall Break for Emma. This week, Emma is doing Basketball Camp. This is her first time playing basketball in an organized fashion (as opposed to just playing in gym or at home/park).
The first day didn't go as well as I had hoped. She gets really upset if she doesn't think she did something well, and she wasn't happy with how well she did. I explained that many of the other kids have played before; maybe they did summer camp or last season, or last year's fall/spring break camp. This made her feel a little better. I also reminded her how she stayed up really late the night before, so she didn't have as much energy. This also helped comfort her (and she went to bed earlier Mon. night! lol). I felt terrible that she was sad and felt bad about herself. I know what it's like to feel this way, and I never want her to have to experience that.
Thankfully, the rest of the week has gone much better. She has improved so much in just the first three days, and is having a lot of fun. It is great for her to have something to do. Just keeping her entertained in the afternoon and evenings is hard enough. Not sure what I'll do with her next week!
