get a grip, lady

At Kroger today (a grocery store, for you out-of-towners), Emma and witnessed a lady, put quite simply, losing her shit.
I did not see what happened before I got there (obviously). What I did see is a car parking and people getting out. The driver looked to be around... 67, passenger 1 was probably 50, and a lady in a wheelchair and who looked like she might have ALS or some other such disease. The first thing that caught my attention was yelling. I rolled down my window, and heard a woman yelling about a parking spot. Apparently, she had been waiting for the spot, and this other car took it.
I don't know who "deserved" the spot. I do know that the car that got it should have had a handicapped spot, but there were none available. The lady said something about you should take a handicap spot. (Thanks for the tip). She was getting ALL up in the man's face. The man said there were no open handicap spots. Man tries to go into the store with his group, and the lady blocks him and yells more. She was really quite aggressive. I was thinking, "omg- this lady is going to deck this guy. He might be a veteran, even... on veterans day"). The yelling continued. I was tempted to yell something at the lady, but I didn't. I might have if Emma hadn't been in the car. There were other people around witnessing this, also. When I finally drove on to find a spot, someone was blocking crazy lady and getting in her face.
So the man tried again to go inside, lady keeps yelling it and intimidating them. WTH lady- get a grip! Move on!! I was just shocked at how bent out of shape this person got. I don't know what her life struggles are, but I do know that you need to control yourself out in public.
I thought about calling the police. If I had my old phone, with the non-emergency police number, I would have. I did inform the managers of the situation, though.

This type of thing happens all the time, I realize. It isn't as common in Cookeville, TN, though. Also, even in places like east L.A., most people would back off when they saw the lady in the wheelchair. I mean jeez. In some places, this type of thing mightt get you shot.

  1. It is always terrifying to see people lose it. Sorry if your daughter had to see that.
